Rebecca Rimel- President and CEO, The Pew Charitable Trusts
Advice:
“Be positive, persistent, and open to change. I began my career as an emergency room nurse, but in 1983 I accepted a very different kind of position at The Pew Charitable Trusts, where I was hired to oversee grants to health programs. While I was excited about the opportunity, it meant moving away from the town where I’d grown up, and after a few weeks on the job I started to question whether I’d made the right decision. For guidance, I looked to the most influential person in my life: my mother. An eternal optimist, she encouraged me to stay the course and to believe in myself. I listened to her, and the result has been a long, wonderful, and rewarding journey at Pew. Today, as president and CEO, I have the privilege of working with a team that is helping to tackle some of the world’s most challenging problems.”
