Women have made great strides in just the past several years regarding election to Congress, governors of states, Supreme Court Justices, and presidential cabinet positions. I take pride and encouragement knowing that women are rising in those ranks and that we have more opportunities than ever before.
As a congresswoman for the past seven years, I can trace my ambition and achievements back to one simple rule—stay true to myself, hold my family and religious values closely and never trade them for anything. Oftentimes, people or things can create static noise that makes it difficult to focus on what is good and right, but at the end of the day, it’s important for young women—and all of us—to understand the importance of using the talents we have to better help our community and those we love. Also, we all have bad days and it is those times when we must learn to reroute our paths and continue our journey.
